My name is Kenzie, my young students call me teacher Kenzie. I'm from the US and I've lived in different states before, all the way from Hawaii to New York and I've also lived in the UK and Hong Kong. I have a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of California, Irvine and I have experience teaching at the American public primary schools.
I've been teaching English in Hong Kong for the past 6-7 years. I've taught phonics (Letterland and Jolly Phonics), grammar, writing, interviewing, presentation and public speaking skills at a children language center before. Now I teach mostly business English at a Japanese language center on top of my private tutoring. All my students love my phonics techniques to improve their oral skills.
I worked in Corporate America at different global companies before coming to Hong Kong. So I'm familiar with the business English language and the American/western work culture that my adult working students really enjoy learning! Besides English, I'm also fluent in Chinese, both Cantonese and Mandarin. I have a degree in Linguistics and French and I've also studied some other languages such as Spanish, German and Japanese. So I have a good solid understanding of different languages and how to learn another language effectively. I have students at all ages from kindergarten to adult level of different backgrounds, from the local Hong Kong students, mainland Chinese to Japanese students, working on different language skills. I cater my lesson to each student's need because every student is unique! My students and I always enjoy our lively and interactive lesson with different activities!
I hope my academic and professional background would be a good help for your need. Thank you!
